How do I find a career ?- Finding a career is not that difficult, but finding a career that best suits you can be more challenging. How many times have you asked yourself the question “what is the job for me”? Probably many times, but have you ever been able to reach a conclusive answer? – probably not.
What seems like a difficult question to answer is not, but you do need to know how to reach a conclusion which you are satisfied is correct. Job satisfaction is not an option that only some people seem to obtain from working, it is essential for a happy life and therefore career. Choose the wrong job and you will only regret the decision and only put your career and possibly your life into reverse.
Careers Support - Taken on face value this may seem like a difficult challenge to complete, but it is not that difficult. Essentially, by asking yourself a few basic questions and by going through a process of elimination it is possible to create a short list of jobs and careers that suits you specifically. By taking the time to go through and document your interests, personality, experiences, skills and qualifications we will help you to create a CV, which can be used to find you a career that is right for you. Here are a few basic questions you can ask yourselves to help you to understand your potential career paths :-
1. What interests do you have outside of work?
2. What are your personal strengths? (e.g. you are well organised?)
3. What are your personal weaknesses? (e.g. I don’t like working with the public?)
4. Are you motivated by money?
5. What do you think is your dream job and why?
6. Are you prepared to make compromises or sacrifices to get your perfect job, or is it not that important to you?
Our Careers Support service will help you to understand how the answers to these questions influence your decision to choose a particular job and career.
Find Me A Career - Choosing a career is about finding the right career for you and your personality.
From our Manchester office we help to support you through the process of understanding what career and how to get a job that you ‘want to do’ rather than you ‘have to do’.
Here are a few basic questions you can ask yourselves to help you to understand your potential dream job?
1. Where do you want to work? Do you have a preference?
2. Will you drive to work or use public transport?
3. What hours do you want to work?
4. Are you happy to work weekends?
Finding a career is more about understanding your key strengths and weaknesses such that you know which jobs and careers to discount from the selection process, than it is finding a job that seems to pay well or looks like an easy job to do. The greater the job satisfaction the easier it is to maintain your chosen and preferred career. Basing your job and career on a topic that interests or preferably inspires you is the ultimate way to maintain a satisfying and rewarding career for yourself. At Portfolio Business Solutions Ltd we specialise in helping you to find the link between your personality, interests and a paid occupation. Our Manchester careers office supports students, the employed, the unemployed and those people who need support during periods of redundancy.
